MLB Trade Deadline Recap

The MLB trade deadline just ended on July 31st with teams looking to make a late run towards October.

Teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers and New York Mets all made serious rosters changes.

The Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers received P Rich Hill and outfielder Josh Reddick from the Oakland Athletics. Reddick tweeted about his excitement on social media:

The Dodgers traded P Mike Bolsinger to the Toronto Blue Jays for P Jesse Chavez and cash.  Prospect 1b Yordan Alvarez was sent to Houston while RHP Jharel Cotton, RHP Grant Holmes and RHP Frankie Montas were shipped to Oakland.

The New York Yankees

The Yankees traded RHP Ben Heller, CF Clint Frazier, RHP J.P. Feyereisen, and LHP Justus Sheffield to the Cleveland Indians for LHP Andrew Miller. They also traded RHP Vicente Campos for RHP Tyler Clipart from Arizona.

Arguably the biggest trade the Yankees negotiated involved sending OF Carlos Beltran to the Texas Rangers for RHP Nick Green, RHP Erik Swanson, RHP Dillon Tate and cash.

Green expressed his excitement on Twitter:

Other trades included the dealing of RHP Ivan Nova to the Pittsburg Pirates for players to be named later.

The Texas Rangers

The Rangers added P Jonathan Lucroy from the Milwaukee Brewers while shedding former all-star and slugger Prince Fielder, who’s been on the decline in recent years. Lucroy voiced his excitement on Twitter:

New York Mets

Finally, the Mets added slugger Jay Bruce for INF Dilson Herrera and LHP Max Wotell. Bruce is having a solid year and hopes to add to a potential late post season run by the Mets. The Mets organization posted this photo on their official Twitter page:

Among all the buzz around Bruce, the Mets quietly shipped LHP Antonio Bastardo to Pittsburg for LHP Jonathon Niese.

All the trades should make for an interesting run for each team as they push towards October.
