The Top Five Social Media Profiles You Need In Order To Get Your Website Ranked Higher.
Social Media Profiles
Hey guys, Paul Argueta here. Happy Holidays! Today I’m going to cover with you the top social media profiles sites that you need to have in order to get your website rank higher. I use these same techniques to help build my real estate brand, and if you don’t know it, my moniker is above: TalkToPaul.
When you set up your profile page you want to make sure you use the same moniker every single time. I use the exact same techniques that I’m going to be covering today, that can be applied to your website, and on what social media profiles you need them to be on.
We have all seen the Facebook icons, the Instagram icons, etc. Once the social media profile sites have been created and you have them linking back to your site, you also need to make sure that you put those icons on your site. It adds more credibility to what you’re already doing.
1) Google My Business
Google My Business. If you don’t know what Google My Business is, it’s the Google business profile pages that pop up every time you do a search on Google Maps. It is free.
You’re going to sign up, create a profile page, enter all of the necessary requirements to fill out, and Google will ask whether or not you business is a service location. The beauty about what Google My Business is that it allows you to create Google services areas.
You can create a services area of either a radius, city, or zip code, and you should pop up where people search for the particular business. I am going to suggest if you are running your business out of your home, that you only create a service area so that your personal address, does NOT show up.
If you are the type of person that has your office in one location but then you live in another city, and you would like to offer that city as another service location, Google does allow multiple locations on Google My Business.
What will happen with this option is, they will allow you to verify the business the first time probably by a phone call or a text message confirming that your business really exists. Keep in mind that you will need a website in order for Google to vet that you’re a real business, and or person.
The first location you verify should be notarized rather quickly, however, for more locations Google will not offer the text or phone call for verification.
Instead, you will receive a postcard in the mail.
These postcards typically arrive three to five business days later. In them are pin number that will allow you to verify the profile for that location. This is a very important business tool. If the location to your business is not put on Google My Business, you will not show up on Google Maps. Make sure that that is the very first social media profile that you set up.
2) Facebook Business Page
Social media profile number two: Facebook business page. We all know that we need to have a Facebook business page, especially for advertisements and Instagram advertising.
In addition to making a Facebook Business profile page, you to make sure you update it with content. Facebook will send you reminders on a regular basis – sometimes on a daily basis – that viewers haven’t heard from you and threaten to close the page down, that is, if you don’t update it.
What you want to do is you want to post content that you’ve written on your site and you want to put that content on Facebook linking it back to your site.
If I were to write a blog post on my website about entrepreneurship, I would then copy and paste the hyperlink URL to that blog entry, and I would place that on my Facebook business page.
There are a couple of reasons I suggest this. The first reason being, you’ll get credit for posting content on your site to keep it active.
Second reason being, the algorithm these days measure something called social cues They also measure how many social sites that are sharing that piece of content.
These are no follow links, but they (Google) are seeing how many that article is being shared on social media
. The reason to share content on Facebook Business Page is not only to keep the page active, but also make sure the website is also getting social links.
3)Yelp Business Page
Social media profile number three: Yelp. Yelp is NOT ONLY FOR RESTAURANTS. If you use the app, you’ll now notice that there is a ton of service related industries too, such as, doctors, schools, salons, etc.
You can create the Yelp business profile by going to Biz.Yelp.com to create one. It is a very similar process to Google My Business and again it does not cost you any money! Just like Google, you’ll create your profile, fill out information, and they will require a website.
If you do not have a website, it is not impossible to get your profile set up, but it will be a little more challenging.
Like Google my business, the more profiles and locations you set up, Yelp will be a little more stringent on the process, as well as verify that the business has an actual location. Once your profile is set up, be prepared that SEVERAL of Yelps salespeople are going to contact you.
They are professionals, they are good at what they do, but I will tell you that they are going to be aggressive. You will hear from them on a regular basis, and they will sell you on the benefits of advertising.
I will not advocate for or against Yelp, however I personally feel that I have been able to get business without Yelp. Nevertheless, I will not be opposed to having some of Yelps salesperson work for me, they are tenacious. 4) Apple Maps
Social media profile number four: Apple Maps. If you didn’t know, Google Maps, which used to be an application in the IPhone, is not an automatic application anymore. You do have to manually download Google Maps onto your IPhone.
Most people will not feel the need to use Google products, because they are loyal to the Apple corporation, so they will only use Apple products. Because of this, Apple has created their own version of Google Maps, called Apple Maps.
You sign up with Apple ID, if you do not have an Apple ID, you will have to create one. Same deal, they will ask for a website and location of your storefront.
Currently, and I could be wrong, it has to be a storefront location. If I’m not mistaken, a residential address or office space, will not be permitted.
Like Google and Yelp, they will verify by telephone. Ultimately, you are going to have a profile set up on Apple Maps for IPhone users, which there are millions, that are going to be using Apple Maps to search for your product or service. If you want to show up, you better be on it.
5)Instagram
Social media profile number five: Instagram. Everyone uses Instagram nowadays. Your Instagram account does allow you to link your business profile page to your profile, so it is a great product to share business posts to link back to your business page.
However, the traction to your link does not come easy. You will need to have an audience in order to have relevance. You can pay for advertising, but again, an audience is important and does to effort.
Instagram is equally as important. It does make you look a little more reputable for users to find you and click on your link.
Summary
But Paul! – what about Twitter? What about Snapchat? What about Soundcloud? I get it. Regardless of the reputation of these social media tycoons, I have listed the most reputable social media profiles that will make the BEST and MOST IMPACTFUL profiles.
I am NOT saying that you do not need these profiles, I am saying that you need as many sites as you can.
I have heard several studies that there are 60 – 100 social media websites that are good for your business. It is very time consuming, but it does add more credibility to your business. The more the merrier, by all means, take advantage of them.
I will warn you to NEVER pay for social media advertising, because the best advertising is already free anyway. Ask for reviews, upload personal content about family, give out business cards whenever possible, etc.
Now, let’s briefly talk about the internet. Understand that all the internet cares about is the user experience. It’s algorithms and your ranking is based on that user experiences.
The longer the user is on the site, the more it signals that your website is relevant to the content that the user is searching for. That means, the longer the user uses your site, the more likely you are to rank higher.
What is relevant is the number of websites that link to your page, and social media profiles is an easy way for Google to recognize that you’ve got outside reputable sites that are not linking to your website.
If you’re on a Chamber of Commerce site and on that Chamber of Commerce is a link that can go back to your site. Does that not make you look more reputable in the eyes of the consumer? Yes.
Does that not make you look more reputable in the eyes of the internet? Yes. The key here is the haver as many social media profile sites set up so that allow you to put your website on there. You really need to understand that your site has to have the content in order to keep the “eyeballs” there.
QUICK TIP: As you’re setting up these social media profile sites, I am going to recommend that you try to use the same username profile for all the sites that you set up. In the eyes of the internet, as the spider bots are crawling the web, they’re seeing that TalkToPaul.com is appearing on all these different profiles and on all these other domains.
